Power sector at crossroads: The new power plant- an old idea?

The process of reforms in the energy sector in Kosovo, in particular the process of building of “Kosova e Re” power plant, for which the Government of Kosovo has signed a contract at the end of 2017, has been met with polarizing opinions in favor and against it. Because this sector is of vital importance to the quality of life of Kosovo citizens, the way of contracting and the results of this important process attracted greater attention. This process, which started in 2005, underwent major changes for more than a decade up to the current formulation which can be found in the contract signed by the Government of Kosovo. During this time, in addition to delays, significant costs have been incurred for technical assistance in designing and keeping up the process.
