On Thin Ice: Conditionality, Challenges and Reforms toward the EU

On November 7, 2016, Kosovo Foundation for Open Society and Group for Legal and Political Studies organized Forum 2015 with the subject On Thin Ice: Conditionality, Challenges and Reforms toward the EU. By bringing together diplomats, policymakers, media, and civil society representatives, the conference aims to put to the front challenges that Kosovo faces vis-à-vis good governance, but also that of the EU integration process.

The conference was split into three sessions. The Upshot of the SAA: Kosovo-EU Relations was the first session with opening remarks by the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society’s Executive Director Mr. Luan Shllaku. The session continued with Mr. Augustin Palokaj’s presentation of the study’s main findings, The Upshot of the SAA: Kosovo-EU Relations, and the next steps in the European integration process, followed by a panel discussion with the Kosovo Prime Minister Mr. Isa Mustafa, EU Special Representative Ms. Nataliya Apostolova, and the founder of Koha Ditore Mr. Veton Surroi. The second and the third parallel panels discussed the Kosovo – Serbia dialoge and Rule Of Law Reforms And Eu Integration respectively.

Supported by KFOS, NGO’s of relevant fields have also published their analysis of the work the government institutions have done during the previous year. These publications will serve as advocacy platform for recommendations to be taken into account from local and EU institutions, by empowering the civil society landscape to influence policy making.
