Young and Female: Experiences of and Barriers to Kosovo’s ‘Digital-Social’ Start-Up Scene
Written by Geena Whiteman, the policy paper "Young and Female: Experiences of and Barriers to Kosovo’s ‘Digital-Social’ Start-Up Scene" looks at the emergence of a digital-social entrepreneurship eco-system in Kosovo, focusing specifically on the challenges that young women face engaging in this form of entrepreneurship. Women are more likely to be inclined to- wards social entrepreneurship, however, the technology sector has historically been considered to be more male-driven and less accessible for women, and entrepreneurship more broadly considered to be more challenging for young people due to a lack of resources. Therefore, this paper explores the unique challenges that young women face establishing their own businesses in a male dominated space, whilst also pursuing ‘social value'.
This policy brief is part of a series of publications produced by the Kosovo Research and Analysis Fellowship (KRAF), an initiative by KFOS.
