Roma Policy Research Fellowship

Organized by the Roma Initiatives Office and the Think Tank Fund, this program supports young Roma MA and PhD graduates in social sciences and humanities to develop new skills under the guidance of experienced research staff at mainstream think tanks. The program provides young Roma researchers with an opportunity to gain 6–12 months of firsthand research and advocacy experience in leading think tanks in their home countries. Open Society East East Beyond Borders Program to Close in 2013

In 2013, the Open Society Foundations will conclude its East East Beyond Borders program. Open Society will continue to support collaboration among nongovernmental and civil society organizations in a range of ways. More than 6000 voters reported irregularities during the campaign “Vote and Watch”

On November 3, 2013, the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society concluded successfully the “Vote and Watch” campaign, after receiving thousands of SMSs from Kosovar voters. More than 6000 citizens reported irregularities they had witnessed through SMS messages sent to a free number, designated only for this purpose and enabled by all three mobile providers in Kosovo. Classified into categories of irregularities, every fourth message reported problems with the voters’ list, due to high number of deceased person names still being present. Every seventh message reported on problems with the bad management of the polling station, ranging from not spraying the finger to numerous abuses by commissioners. Serb to Serb Dialogue: Elections 2013

Within the “Serb to Serb dialogue” and on the occasion of local elections in Kosovo, which will be held on November 3, 2013, Media Center in Caglavica in cooperation with RTV Puls from Silovo in cooperation and with the financial support from the Kosovo Foundation for Open Society organize public debates with candidates for Mayor in municipalities with Serbian majority.
